Google Display Ad Sizes Cheat Sheet (Infographic)

Google Display Ads can appear in a variety of shapes and sizes depending on the available space on a page and it’s not always easy to know what shapes and sizes your ads may appear in when the general public sees them. Our very handy Google Display Ad Sizes Cheat Sheet (below) gives you an easy to digest look at all of the different sizes that your ad may be adjusted to.

Essential Responsive Recommendation

We would always recommend putting a responsive version of your ad live alongside your image ads on the display network. Not only does it ensure you have an ad to cater to every dimension, but we have also seen these generate higher click-through and conversion rates with some of our clients.

More About Responsive Display Ads

Responsive display ads are great for maximizing exposure on the Google Display Network. To create a responsive display ad, all you need to do is upload your assets (images, headlines, logos, videos and descriptions), and Google will automatically generate ads to be shown on the Google Display Network.

Google Display Ad Image Requirements:

  • Up to 5 (Minimum 1) Landscape Images. These should have a ratio of 1.91:1 and be greater than 600 x 314. The file size limit is 5MB. Google now recommends having more than 1 image version as Google Display Ads best practice. These will be shown independently and they will determine which ones are the most effective.

  • Up to 5 (Minimum 1) Square Images. These should be the same as the landscape images but have a 1:1 ratio and be greater than 300 x 300. The file size limit is 5MB. Again, Google now recommends having more than 1 image version as best practice to test different visuals. These will be shown independently and they will determine which ones are the most effective.

  • Avoid text in all images. Text may cover no more than 20% of the image.

  • No logos required in the images as this will be uploaded separately.
