Matt has joined us with a background in in-house PPC management for a software company in central London, so he’s already clued up on the tricks of the trade. Right now, he’s sinking his teeth into our operations and best practices. He’s very busy getting to grips with it all but we’re delighted to have him as part of the Digital Gearbox team and even managed to grab him for a quick Q&A.
Which aspect of PPC do you love the most?
The analytics – I am a data guy at heart and PPC is full of it. I love having the ability to have as much data as I do at my fingertips, able to sift through and identify trends and patterns that can have big impacts for clients.
What frustrates you the most about the industry?
The one thing that frustrates me the most about PPC are the release stages of new products. With the US being such a dominant market it seems as though they receive all new products / updates first before they are rolled out to the UK. This frustrates me because I am genuinely overly excited about some of them and have to wait before I can utilise them to make my accounts perform better. However, this does give the industry a chance to squeeze out any bugs, so all in all there is a silver lining.
How has your first week been?
Fantastic to sum it up in one word. I received a very warm welcome with chocolates (that are still going) and books by the industry-renowned Chloë Thomas, which I’ve been getting stuck into. I travelled down to London for a specialised Google training session, which was extremely informative and insightful. Most importantly, I am getting to know our clients here at Digital Gearbox, learning about the companies, getting an insight into their accounts and setting up meetings.
So it has been a busy week with lots of work, but a good session of Spotifridays (Spotify DJ-ing between the team on Fridays) keeps the spirits high all the way to the end of the week. Looking forward to my second week and helping grow Digital Gearbox.
Which Hogwarts house would you be in?
Hufflepuff – hard-working, friendly, loyal, honest and rather impartial. I feel that sums me up quite nicely.
Favourite ice cream flavour?
This is a tough question, but it has to be cookies and cream. Any additional cookie dough in there as well wouldn’t go amiss.
Dogs or cats?
I am a dog person myself, I’ve always have had a dog within the family and always will I think. I do also like cats (just not as much).
